Twitter is improving the way users get their tweets, especially when they’re away from the app. Twitter’s new “While You Were Away” feature attempts to change all that to get you constantly updated.
Twitter introduced a feature that resurfaces important tweets while users were inactive. It is currently only for iOS users, but it will come to Android and its web client soon enough. The feature does exactly what its name suggest – popular tweets will be streamlined to the top of your feed marked with a “while you were away…” header.
It is unclear how Twitter determines which tweets get included in the recap but they did mention that recap-worthy tweets are “determined by engagement and other factors.” Users who seldom open the app will see the feature more often.
Twitter first previewed it at its analyst day conference. During December, the feature rolled out to a few users for testing and it is finally ready for prime time. iOS users should expect the update starting today.
