Am a proud user of an HTC One X and I was ready to buy myself this Butterfly on impulse, but… considering the lack of NFC and the fact that the Xperia Z and ZL (with such impressive specs and design) are just around the corner, such a premium price for the butterfly, I see only hardcore HTC fans will be sane enough to buy the Butterfly now.
Yes, you get the most powerful processor and the 1st HD screen phone to reach malaysia at the moment, but will it be worth it without such future proof functions such as better camera optics quality, better battery capacity, NFC, and LTE?
No NFC and LTE? T_T
NFC is quite useful, and should actually be included on all new generation phones.. especially flagships (why HTC?)!! Yes, it may be still ‘gimicky’ right now, but i still use it for urls, files and vid transfers between my friends and family. So yes, i need NFC for my phones. I really dont understand why such basic specs such as NFC are not included in the butterfly. Even an entry level Lumia 620 has NFC capabilities.
LTE on the other hand, I think is still in its infancy in malaysia.. yes, you can say that malaysia is LTE ready, but i doubt that it would go mainstream this year. This year we might only see telcos push for their mobile internet data-only LTE packages. I will place my bet on 2014 for proper LTE networks in malaysia. So the lack of LTE wouldnt be such a blow IMHO. By the time we malaysians adopt to LTE, most of them will be already wielding a Samsung S5 or S6.
HTC should do better market studies.
Totally agree with your statement. That’s why i was so disappointed when they didn’t include NFC. LTE as you mention might not go mainstream this year so is not a big factor yet. I was waiting for this phone yet didn’t have the things it should have. Now wait for Sony xperia Z better.
From what I understand, it does have NFC even tho’ HTC’s own website carelessly neglected to mention otherwise, but not the LTE. Perhaps, the HTC M7 or even Motorola’s purported coming devie could be interesting.
If it doesn’t come with NFC, we can kiss HTC goodbye…
Dont really need NFC. and 3G is good enough for me.
i’m gonna buy this phone.
Come to think of it, most specs given for the Butterfly i saw online do have NFC.. o_O.. but some local tech blogs say it doesen’t have. So which one is true? Can you confirm anything @Chief Chapree?
Need to wait for local reviews / hands-on updates to be sure. But then again, Sony’s offering of Z and ZL is too hard to pass by..
Yes, I have seen the real thing. It’s lighter than my wife’s HTC One X, and is beautiful. However, priced @ RM2299/=, without NFC, is unacceptable to me. I’ve kiised it goodbye, and will be waiting instead for the Sony Xperia Z or something better with NFC at such exorbitant price/
Of all the losers to floow, HTC now themselves a loser, to chose to follow iPhone 5 WITH NO NC. Paying high premium prices for a low underspec-ed device is a No-No.
sunway giza htc concept stores dint open already la…please give real information
My bad. We were not informed of its closure and the store is still listed in Sunway Giza’s official website as well as Cubic Platform’s own website.
i found something confusing me. from tune talk company htc butterfly its offer consist of NFC connectivity.
http://shop.tunetalk.com/HTC-Butterfly.html
refer to specs of the mobile. does tht mean celcom offered HTC Butterfly consist of NFC too @@
they’ve moved their concept store to SS17.
HTC does have LTE and NFCs in the Butterfly. Infact, the Butterfly has 3-4 different models depend on how you see it. Japan, Usa , Europe and TW/international variants. Tw/intl variant wont have these capabilities purely because the destinations that the phone was going to mostlikely do not have the supporting infrastructure to fully utilise the phones function. Even though japan and usa variants have these functions it may not be suitable for different markets. If you think HTC made a big mistake on not including LTE and NFC for south east asian markets, think again, these regions are not 100% ready for it , so they opted to wait. Do look up the different variants i ve mentioned and if u hav friends or family travelling to the US or even Jp, get them to buy one with the said functions if you do not like the Tw/intl edition
