AI use has been steadily increasing across Malaysia, and this trend is also making its way into the education sector. To help prepare local educators for this shift, Google has brought its Google AI Educator Series (GES) to the country, officially unveiling it at Bett Asia 2026.
The tech giant says the move comes as the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) have enabled Gemini for Education for millions of students and educators across K-12 schools and public universities. The company also claims that more than 200,000 educators in Malaysia have already received their Gemini Certified Educator certification.

For the uninitiated, GES is a free, standards-aligned AI literacy training programme designed to help educators build their skills and knowledge when working with AI. The programme offers a self-paced learning experience for both K-12 educators and higher education faculty members.
Google says the programme consists of bite-sized lessons lasting between 15 and 45 minutes, allowing educators to fit the training around their existing schedules. The lessons are also designed to help teachers put what they learn into practice, including creating lesson plans and supporting materials, drafting communications for parents, and using vibe coding to build interactive simulations and assignments.
Other AI Plans & Tools

The AI Educator Series isn’t the only initiative Google is bringing to Malaysian classrooms. According to the company, it plans to expand Guided Learning to Google Classroom in the coming months. The feature will let educators select their own class materials, while students will receive step-by-step guidance tailored to the lesson content. Teachers will also be able to view real-time progress and insights, which the company says can help them identify areas where students may need further support.
The tech giant is also making Read Along, its digital reading tutor, available at no extra cost to all Google Workspace for Education users. The service now includes more than 60 Malay-language titles, along with interactive comprehension questions, while students can practise reading at home through the Read Along mobile app with real-time AI-powered pronunciation feedback; Malaysian teachers and students with a DELIMa account can access the features.
