Following the launch of the Pad 9 Pro Max, Xiaomi released two new additions to its tablet lineup on its home turf. Much like the top-tier model, the vanilla Pad 9 and the Pad 9 Pro both offer displays with a high refresh rate and large batteries. However, the duo misses out on the company’s in-house XRING O3 chipset, equipping Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors instead.
Design-wise, the base model stays slim and light, with a chassis measuring 5.75mm thick and weighing around 485g. Meanwhile, the Pro variant is a touch thicker and heavier at 5.8mm and about 580g. The display sizes also differ, with the vanilla version getting an 11.2-inch screen and the Pro model sporting a bigger 12.5-inch panel.
Size notwithstanding, the displays are pretty much identical. Basically, you’re looking at an LCD panel with a 3,200 x 2,136 pixel resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 12-bit colour depth with DCI-P3 coverage. Other than that, the screen offers HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision support. Wet touch support is also available, so the display remains responsive when handled with damp hands. Peak brightness does differ between the two models, with the base version capping out at 800 nits, while the Pro gets a higher 1,000 nits.
Internally, the regular Pad 9 sports a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, which is the same chip equipped on its precursor. As such, the new tablet is unlikely to offer a significant boost in performance. On the other hand, the Pro model is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Furthermore, both devices get a maximum of 256GB of storage. Memory is a whole other matter, with the base version getting up to 12GB of RAM, while its fancier sibling tops out at 16GB. Naturally, both models run on HyperOS 4 right out of the box.

Powering the smaller tablet is a 9,720mAh battery with 45W charging. Meanwhile, the Pro packs a bigger 11,000mAh cell with support for 67W wired and 22.5W reverse charging. On the imaging end, the Pad 9 sports a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front snapper. On the Pro model, these are 50MP and 32MP respectively.
The tablets are available in China with a starting price of CNY2,999 (~RM1,818) for the Pad 9 and CNY3,799 (~RM2,303) for the Pad 9 Pro. For now, the company has not disclosed details on a global launch.
