Earlier this month, SOCAR confirmed that it is ceasing its car-sharing operations in Malaysia. With the service set to officially end on 31 August 2026, existing users must seek out other rental platforms. Among the available alternatives is GoCar Mobility (GoCar), which has announced an offer for eligible SOCAR users.
This initiative is aimed at helping users transition to the platform and comprises up to RM200 in mobility credits. Qualifying users can get up to RM200 in “promotional value”, as the platform puts it. Basically, GoCar is giving these users discounts on its services. According to the company, up to RM20 can be applied to each GoCar Share booking, allowing users to enjoy savings on as many as ten separate trips. It should also be noted that the offer is only valid until 31 December 2026, so bookings must be made by then.

To claim the offer, the user must first sign up for GoCar, either via the app or the official website. Notably, the company has implemented a deadline for this. The registration period runs from 19 August until 30 September 2026, so if you sign up after that, you won’t be eligible. After creating an account, the user must take a screenshot of their existing SOCAR wallet and submit it to marketing@gocar.my for verification. Once verified, a promotional code will be emailed to the user. This code must be used when making a reservation to apply the discount. Of course, certain terms and conditions may apply.

This offer provides former SOCAR customers with continued access to car rental services. Operating across Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor Bahru, GoCar currently serves over 40,000 users annually. Its car-sharing fleet comprises a wide range of vehicles, including compact cars, sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and electric vehicles. In addition to this, the company runs GoCar P2P, a peer-to-peer marketplace that lets vehicle owners list their cars for rental.
