CelcomDigi has announced the next phase of its CD:NXT talent development initiative. First launched last year, this is a long-term effort built to cultivate Malaysia’s next generation of digital leaders. The telco says that the new phase is centred around three component programs and initiatives, with the aim of meeting “the evolving needs of the digital economy while supporting the nation’s long-term ambitions, in line with the aspirations of the Rancangan Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia (RPTM) 2026 – 2035”.
The first of these is what the telco calls “campus@celcomdigi”. It’s described as the first-of-its-kind program in the country that “bridges classroom learning with industry experience to equip students with practical skills through hands-on workplace engagement”. As part of this, second-year students at partner universities are sent to “take on real business challenges as part of their coursework and receive ongoing mentorship from industry practitioners”. Selected final-year students will then “undertake industry residencies at CelcomDigi’s dedicated on-site campus at its headquarters”.

Speaking of which, the four university partners are Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and HELP University. CelcomDigi aims to reach over 300 students annually this way, with plans to expand to additional universities.
Then there’s the Young Talent Program (YTP), something that CD:NXT launched with. This is a “two-year leadership and career acceleration track for high-potential graduates, designed to build critical future-ready skills”. This combines “rotational assignments, mentorship, and hands-on involvement in strategic business projects”. With this being the second year, the program has welcomed its second batch, consisting of 20 candidates, who will be going through the above across disciplines like Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data & Business Analytics, Digital Product Development, as well as AI & Automation.

Rounding things out is the Certification program. This means providing “immersive learning opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality (XR), and other emerging technologies for school and university students, as well as working professionals”.
