Mozilla officially announced that it will be giving its Firefox browser a brand refresh. And to celebrate this change, the company also revealed Kit, the browser’s new mascot.
“The Firefox brand is getting a refresh and you get the first look,” the official Mozilla landing page reads. ‘Kit’s our new mascot and your new companion through an internet that’s private, open and actually yours.’

Starting 11 November, desktop users will be able to see the new mascot’s visage whenever they open a new tab. Not only that, but the company is also launching a new line of merchandise featuring the Vulpe to celebrate the occasion.
The company sells a range of merchandise, including (but not limited to) t-shirts, stickers, and travel mugs. Unfortunately, however, these products are only available in the US and Europe.

That said, it is not yet known whether or not Mozilla will give Firefox another logo redesign, much like what the company did back in 2019. Not only that, but the company never really explained why Firefox needed a refresh. If we were to speculate, it is likely a strategic move to better differentiate itself from the competition.
Not only that, but we’ll also have to wait and see whether or not this refresh will herald a few new additional features. Hopefully, these additional features won’t end with user backlash like last time.
