Google is expanding the capabilities of Canvas, the interactive workspace that is found within the Gemini chatbot app. Starting today, users can ask the AI to generate a slideshow presentation for them.
Gemini’s Canvas can now generate presentation slides with just a prompt. However, users can also upload files like documents, spreadsheets, and research papers if they want to cite a specific source.
Notably, users can request the AI to upload any source that is relevant to the chosen topic. Alternatively, if a user already has a source in mind, they can upload that first and then ask Gemini to create a presentation based on that.
The resulting decks will have a theme and relevant images attached with the text. Users can then export the presentation to Google Slides for additional tweaks. The user can edit these decks solo or collaborate with other people.

Pro subscribers can enjoy the feature today, while Free users have to wait for a few more weeks. It is also worth noting that the feature is now being rolled out to both personal and Workspace accounts.
