The East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE), or at least Section One of it, opened at the end of August. At the time, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the stretch will be toll-free for a month, ending on 29 September. We’re nearly a month after said date, and now the concessionaire has announced that toll collection will start on 25 October.
In a statement posted on its social channels, EKVE Sdn Bhd announced that toll collection will be fully electronic. Thus, payment can only be done via Touch ‘N Go, Smart Tag and RFID. Said statement also includes the toll rates based on vehicle classes, as well as points of entry and exit. In case you missed it, Section One of the EKVE has four interchanges – Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat, and Ampang.
“Users are advised to ensure that their e-wallet and Touch ‘N Go card balance is sufficient before commencing their journey to avoid any difficulties when passing through toll plazas”, the concessionaire said. Also said was that this collection also is part of the full operational phase of the highway.
The route also forms part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road, with Section One of the EKVE spanning about 24km. Section Two will connect the route to Ukay Perdana, and is still under construction. Once that’s done, it will complete the full 39KM EKVE alignment.
