8BitDo has unveiled a trio of retro-styled accessories that coincides with the Nintendo Entertainment System’s 40th anniversary. The new NES40 collection includes a limited edition controller, a mechanical keyboard, and a compact speaker. All of which are designed to capture the look and spirit of Nintendo’s 8-bit era while offering modern features.
Leading the collection is the Ultimate 2 NES40 Edition controller, a special release that includes 8BitDo’s exclusive NES Retro Receiver, allowing the wireless pad to connect directly with the original NES console. The controller features TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers with adjustable modes, and a range of customisation options. The set also includes four joystick caps and a miniature robot keychain inspired by Nintendo’s vintage R.O.B. accessory. It works with the Switch, Windows PCs, and the NES using the included receiver.

8BitDo also introduced the Retro 68 Keyboard, its first compact 60% mechanical keyboard. Made entirely from aluminium alloy, which covers everything from the shell to the keycaps, it uses Kailh Box Ice Cream Pro Max switches and sports the familiar NES colour palette. The keyboard also features programmable wireless “Super Buttons” and a sizeable 6,500mAh battery that delivers up to 300 hours of use per charge. It’s compatible with Windows and Android devices.

Rounding out the lineup is the Retro Cube 2 speaker, an upgraded version of 8BitDo’s Cube Speaker with improved battery life and functionality. The dual-speaker system supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired USB connections, and it comes with its own charging dock. It also retains the NES-style D-pad controls for playback and volume adjustments, and its 2,000mAh battery offers up to 30 hours of listening time per charge.

All three items from the NES40 collection are now available for pre-order on 8BitDo’s official website. The Ultimate 2 NES40 Edition controller is priced at US$80 (~RM380) and ships in November, the Retro 68 Keyboard costs US$500 (~RM2,380) with January delivery, while the Retro Cube 2 speaker retails for US$50 (~RM240) and ships on 12 December. Although 8BitDo has yet to confirm local pricing or availability, the company does ship directly to Malaysia.
