Huawei has recently debuted the nova Flip S in its home market. As the brand’s newest affordable clamshell foldable, the device retains the same design as the nova Flip, down to the colour options. These include New Green, Sakura Pink, Zero White, and Starry Black. That said, the company has also introduced Sand Black and Sky Blue as two new colourways.
Aside from that, the phone largely retains the same dimensions as last year’s model, although its thickness and weight differs depending on the back panel. The versions with plain leather measure 6.88mm when unfolded and weigh 195g. On the other hand, the glass models are slightly heavier at 199g, and are a touch thicker at 6.9mm.
As for the other specifications, Huawei has equipped the nova Flip S with the same screens as its predecessor. The OLED cover display measures 2.14 inches, with a 480 x 480 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the main screen is a flexible 6.94-inch LTPO OLED FHD+ panel. This display has a resolution of 1,136 x 2,690 pixels, as well as a 120Hz refresh rate.
As per usual, the company does not specify the chipset, only stating that it is an octa-core processor. However, rumours suggest that this chip is the Kirin 8030. Similarly, the RAM also remains undisclosed. Storage options are limited to 256GB and 512GB. Other than that, the foldable packs a 4,400mAh battery with 66W wired charging. For software, the nova Flip S runs Harmony OS 5.1.

For imaging, the phone sports a dual setup comprising a 50MP main shooter with an f/1.9 aperture, as well as an 8MP f/2.2 wide-angle lens. Meanwhile, the front features a 32MP selfie snapper.

Pricing for the Huawei nova Flip S starts at CNY3,388 (~RM2,008), which is cheaper than last year’s model. That said, given that the nova Flip did not make its way over here, it seems unlikely that this generation will see a local release.
