Users have taken to social media to report power outages affecting various locations across West Malaysia. Many of these complaints — posted separately on different platforms (including our own forum) — appeared around the same time, suggesting that the incident may have stemmed from a common cause.
Reports on the matter began surfacing around 4 PM today. According to users, the affected areas include parts of the Klang Valley, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and even Johor Bahru.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has acknowledged and addressed a power outage via a recent update on Facebook (shown above), though only mentioning Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. It remains unclear whether this is connected to the wider issue, or if the company has yet to confirm disruptions in other locations.
[UPDATE: 5:45pm] Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has since confirmed that a supply disruption incident at the Independent Power Station, Edra Power Plant in Melaka was the cause of the outages, which affected areas around the Klang Valley and Johor Bahru. The company said its technical team is currently working to restore electricity in stages to the affected consumers.
TNB also advised the public to report any ongoing power disruption through the following channels:
- Call 15454
- Send a private message on Facebook via TNB Careline
- Send a direct message on X (@Tenaga_Nasional)
- Email tnbcareline@tnb.com.my
[UPDATE: 5:50pm] TNB reports that the affected supply is being restored in stages. According to the company, supply has been restored in the following areas as of 5.30PM:
• Damansara City
• Sri Hartamas
• Danau Desa
• SPPK Cheras
• Ampang
• Bukit Jalil
• Sri Damansara
• Kota Puteri
• Pasir Gudang Darat
[UPDATE: 6:15pm] For those relying on rail-based public transportation in the Klang Valley area, Rapid KL has fortunately announced that its train services are not affected by the power outages and are operating normally.
[UPDATE: 6:27pm] TNB announced via Facebook that the issue has been fully resolved, although some users are still reporting power outages in certain areas through the post’s comments.
