Recently, Apple has reportedly halted work on its cheaper Vision Pro model to focus on its smart glasses projects. For now, not much is known about these wearables yet, beyond the fact that the tech giant is working on a version without a display, as well as a model with an in-lens display. However, a recent report suggests that the latter may feature two different operating modes. This is based on which device it’s paired with.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this pair of smart glasses will be able to connect to a Mac. In this mode, the device will apparently run a full version of visionOS, the brand’s software for its Vision Pro headsets. Aside from pairing with a Mac, these smart glasses will allegedly be able to pair with an iPhone.

When linked to an iPhone, the wearable will swap to a “lighter, more mobile-friendly interface”. Gurman did not specify any other details on this second operating system. It is also uncertain how this software will differ from visionOS.
Of course, Apple’s plans could still change, given that we still have quite a ways before the expected launch of these glasses. The company intends to announce the display-less version next year before releasing it in 2027. Apple will probably launch the version with an in-lens display after this model.

As for the other features of these wearables, they will likely include cameras, speakers, as well as voice control, much like the offerings by Meta. Additionally, the glasses could come with some health-related capabilities.
