After much teasing and many previews, Chery Malaysia has finally debuted the Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH and Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH. Both of these plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models its first local presence at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025) before being opened for pre-booking last week.
Design-wise, the Tiggo 7 makes a bold statement with its trapezoidal LED headlights and distinctive double L-shaped daytime running lights, framed by a closed-off octagonal grille. At the rear, a full-width light bar with signature S-shaped elements and vertical reflectors further elevates its visual presence.
The Tiggo 8, meanwhile, draws inspiration from its petrol-powered counterpart, featuring redesigned headlamps, a slimmer grille surround, a refreshed front bumper with functional air curtains, and sleek flush-fitting door handles. At the back, it retains a familiar layout but introduces a diffuser-inspired element that adds a sportier edge.
Inside, the Tiggo 7 is equipped with a striking 24.6-inch dual display that integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Meanwhile, the Tiggo 8 offers a slightly different configuration, pairing a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 15.6-inch infotainment display. Both of these models are powered by the 8155 Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Comfort and premium feel are enhanced with faux leather seats, a multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Sony premium audio system in both models. However, the Tiggo 7 comes with eight speakers, while the Tiggo 8 is fitted with 10 speakers. Other features include ambient lighting with 64 colour options that can be personalised according to music rhythm or drive mode.
As mentioned above, both models feature the automaker’s Super Hybrid Platform (CSH). The hybrid powertrain combines a 1.5L Turbocharged Direct Injection Engine (TGDi) with an electric motor that produces 55 kW of power and 365 Nm of torque. The PHEV SUVs are also equipped with Chery’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
The motors in both models are powered by an 18.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a pure electric driving range of up to 90 kilometres. Paired with the engine, the system is claimed to deliver a WLTP range of up to 1,200 km.
Charging options are versatile: with 40 kW fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Using a 6.6 kW AC charger, a full charge takes around three hours, while a standard 3-pin charger requires approximately 8.5 hours to reach 100%.
In terms of safety, both Tiggo models are equipped with ADAS 2.0, which includes features such as Front Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and many more. However, the Multi Collision Braking (MCB) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) are only available in the Tiggo 7 PHEV, while the Driver Fatigue Monitoring System (DFS) is exclusive to the Tiggo 8 PHEV.
As for pricing, the Tiggo 7 CSH is going for RM129,800, while the Tiggo 8 CSH is at RM159,800. Both models come with a seven-year/150,000 km warranty for the car and an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the battery pack, power motor, and hybrid control unit. Additionally, the models also include five years of free labour service and a one-to-one battery exchange if the battery health falls below 70% during the warranty period.
