Rumour has it that Intel may be preparing to launch a new Core Ultra X tier, when it officially pulls back the curtains on Panther Lake this month. To be fair, the rumour first sprang up a couple of weeks back, but as these things go, it opened up the floodgates to speculations from multiple sources.
HXL (@9550pro), a prominent leakster on X, is one such rumour monger who supposedly “confirmed” the naming convention, suggesting that a Core Ultra X for the 5, 7, and 9 tiers will complement the existing Core Ultra and non-Ultra tiers. Another X user, 孤城Hardware (@realVictor_M), noted that Intel may have a Core Ultra X7 358H in the works, which could have four P-Cores, eight E-Core, and four LP E-Cores. Oh, and it should feature 12 Xe3 Cores, making it one of the earliest Celestial-based iGPUs when it lands next year.
Again, this is all just hearsay at this point, and at the time of writing, Intel has neither confirmed nor denied these rumours. So, you know what to do with the salt shaker.
Intel is expected to give a proper announcement on Panther Lake on 9 October, which is next week. Panther Lake broke cover earlier this year, during the Embedded World 2025 exhibition. Intel is reportedly going all in with the chipset, with the hope that it will turn the tides of its fortunes.
Technically speaking, it will be the first chipset in its portfolio to be based on the new 18A process, as well as feature integrated graphics cores based on the Xe3 architecture.’
