Proton’s subsidiary, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), has launched its first DC charging station at its new facility in Tanjung Malim. This new charging station also marks the national electric vehicle (EV) maker’s first standalone charging station in the country.
Located at the administration building, the charging hub features four bays with a combined output of 120 kW. According to PRO-NET, the facility is open to all EV brands as the company holds an ST EVCS licence, (a licence required for installing EV charging systems). The automaker explained that making the hub accessible to all EVs is part of its effort to encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles in Malaysia.

Additionally, customers are required only to scan a QR code to operate the charging bay and make payments, unlike other charging stations where customers are required to operate it through an application. At the same time, Proton eMAS and smart owners will continue to enjoy the option of using the eMAS app and Hello smart app, both of which are fully integrated with the system.
In terms of payment, the company has set the charging rate at RM0.80 per kWh, making it one of the lowest charging hubs in the country. Moreover, to celebrate the launch of the charging station, the fee has been discounted to RM0.40 per kWh. This promotion will last for the whole month of October.

“This charging hub is a significant step forward for us, not just as a facility but as part of our commitment to build a stronger EV ecosystem for Malaysia,” PRO-NET added. “By keeping the service affordable and simple to use, we hope to make EV adoption more appealing for everyone.”
