Logitech has introduced the Signature Slim Solar+ K980, a new wireless keyboard that relies on solar charging and artificial light instead of conventional batteries. The company claims the device can remain operational for up to four months in total darkness once fully charged.
In terms of design, the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 uses a scissor-switch mechanism with a full-size layout that includes a number pad. It can pair with up to three devices simultaneously across different operating systems and switch between them using its Easy-Switch keys. The company’s Logi Options+ software also enables users to remap keys, automate common tasks, and configure the dedicated AI key to instantly launch the chatbot or assistant of their choice.

Thanks to its light-harvesting strip above the keys, the Logitech K980 can draw energy from any light source of at least 200 lux, which Logitech describes as the brightness level of dim daytime lighting. According to the company, it comes with a rechargeable battery designed to last up to 10 years. Additionally, as per The Verge, it is revealed that the strip is user-replaceable and available through iFixit, its repair partner.

Beyond its solar charging and repair-friendly design, the keyboard is functionally similar to other Logitech models, with both Mac and PC button labels provided for convenience. For business users, Logitech is also releasing a variant that includes a USB-C receiver.

The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 is priced at US$99 (~RM440), while the business and Mac-specific models are listed at US$110 (~RM485). At the time of writing, Logitech has yet to announce Malaysian availability.
