Not too long after NVIDIA announced that it is partnering with Intel, the chipmaker has secured another strategic partnership. This time, the company has set its sights on OpenAI, and is planning to invest up to US$100 billion (~RM420 billion) in the AI organisation. Additionally, it will supply OpenAI with its processors.
This move lets NVIDIA have a stake in one of the most prominent AI companies. Meanwhile, OpenAI will gain the necessary funds and access to advanced chips. Of course, it should come as no surprise that AI is the heart of this collaboration. As part of this arrangement, NVIDIA will deploy at least 10 gigawatts of its systems for OpenAI’s AI infrastructure. This will serve to train the next generation of models as the company strives to stay ahead of the competition.

Reuters reported that NVIDIA will start with an initial investment of US$10 billion (~RM42 billion) once the first gigawatt is completed. The chipmaker will start delivering hardware from late 2026. This phase is expected to come online in the second half of next year via its Vera Rubin platform.
In a statement announcing the partnership, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman asserted that compute infrastructure will serve as the basis for the economy of the future. He went on to explain that the company will work with NVIDIA to achieve new breakthroughs in AI while also empowering people and businesses with the technologies at scale. The two organisations will finalise the deal in the coming weeks.
