At the time of writing, we are less than a day away from Nothing officially launching its Ear (3) IEMs. Despite its fast-approaching release date, the company found the time to tease a new feature called “Super Mic”, as well as potentially revealing what the previously reported “Talk” button is capable of.
As it did with its earlier posts, Nothing revealed the feature on its social media platforms, showcasing a woman who is potentially speaking into an empty earphones case, and presumably with the Ear (3) in her ears. And like the other teasers, the image is heralded by a cryptic and ominous message that reads “Ear (3) with Super Mic. Now they can hear you.”
Nothing claims that you can “cut through the noise” and that people can “always hear you on calls, anywhere” with the Super Mic feature. This suggests that it has eliminated, if not mitigated, the microphone quality issue that was prevalent in the Ear (3)’s predecessor, though that remains to be seen.
On towards speculative topics, the “Talk” button – There’s a possibility that the Super Mic is nestled within the earphones case, based on the microphone grill for users to speak into. If true, it begs the question of whether Ear (3) will continue to have microphones inside the buds or if all microphone functions have been transferred to the unit’s case.

Alternatively, news outlets such as GSMArena speculate that this “Talk” button might be a walkie-talkie feature. If this is the case (pun intended) we have yet to see what apps or features this walkie-talkie functionality will support, if at all. We’ll most definitely hear more of it when the Nothing Ear (3) officially launches on 18 September.
