Ricoh, via its local distributor Futuromic, has officially launched its new GR IV camera in Malaysia today. As with its predecessors, the new photo snapper offers a compact form factor, but with high end hardware and a fixed lens that’s tailored for both everyday use and street photography.
The Ricoh GR IV measures at only 109.4 x 61.1 x 32.7 mm and weighs 262g. It features a compact magnesium alloy body with textured handgrip, a hot shoe on top, built-in microphone, and a 3-inch TFT 1037K dots LCD display on the back. Connectivity-wise, there’s a USB-C with DisplayPort capability, as well as Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi for wireless.
A 25.7MP APS-C BSI CMOS sensor sits behind the Ricoh GR IV’s 28mm f/2.8 fixed lens. It also features a hybrid autofocus system and built-in 5-axis image stabilisation. Supported image formats include RAW (DNG) and JPEG, while videos are recorded in MPEG4 (MOV) at up to Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) and up to 60 frames per second. These can be stored on the camera’s onboard 53GB storage or a microSD card.
Meanwhile, powering the GR IV is a removable DB-120 rechargeable Li-ion battery. According to Ricoh, the camera is capable of shooting around 250 photos and a video playback time of approximately 240 minutes.
The Ricoh GR IV is priced at RM5,999, but pre-orders in Malaysia have recently closed. On the flip side, Futuromic notes that another batch will be available in the near future and those interested are encouraged to follow its social media channels for updates.
