Mydin has announced that it will be extending its operating hours at all 50 of its branches this weekend. Starting tomorrow 5 September 2025 until Sunday 7 September 2025, the hypermarket outlets will open from 1AM until 7AM. This move is aimed at reducing congestion and allowing customers to comfortably redeem their Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid.
Managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin expressed his wish to prevent long queues and system glitches caused by heavy usage during peak hours. He explained that the glitches were due to too many people attempting to use the terminals at the same time. He went on to note that some shoppers had to wait hours just to redeem the RM100 aid. Moreover, the long weekend is expected to draw larger crowds.

Aside from extending operating hours, Mydin is planning to open more counters for SARA transactions, provided that MyKasih stabilises the platform. As it stands, Mydin has five terminals for this purpose. It is hoped that extending operating hours and increasing the number of terminals will mitigate the issues.
Previously, the government and MyKasih Foundation have acknowledged the technical issues relating to the disbursement of the one-off aid. MyKasih has also boosted its system capacity by 60% to deal with the large volume of transactions.
