As per Samsung’s tradition when it comes to new OS updates, the One UI 8 beta is expanding its reach to encompass more Galaxy smartphones, primarily the Galaxy S23 series. However, it has been confirmed that other midrange smartphones and even older foldables will soon be able to test the new operating system at a later date.
For those unaware, the new OS will feature an improved Quick Share UI for easier and faster access to wireless file sharing. It will also redesign various apps, namely Samsung Internet, Reminders and others. The update will also refine the functionality of many other first-party Samsung apps, such as the in-house Health app, Contacts, and Secure Folder. The One UI 8 will also come bundled with Android 16.
Galaxy S23 users can access the beta by navigating the software update in the Samsung Members app. It is worth mentioning that the One UI 8 will not tamper with your installed apps or data, but all your data will be erased if you choose to roll it back to One UI 7.
As mentioned earlier, other Samsung midrangers will get to enjoy the beta programme, namely the Galaxy A55, A54, and A35. On the foldable side of things, the One UI 8 will also be made available to the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5.
At the current moment, the Android 16 firmware on Samsung devices is live in India. However, it should expand to South Korea and some European countries soon. It is unclear when Malaysia will receive access to this beta and firmware update, but according to Android Police, the full rollout will occur in October. In the meantime, Galaxy S25 users can enjoy the One UI 8 later in the month.
