The Google Pixel 10 Series is now official in Malaysia, coming in three flavours: base, Pro, and Pro XL. The latter of which, as you can tell from the title, is the star of this article.
Let’s start with the design, which may leave fans and longtime Pixel watchers a little puzzled. Google has stuck with almost the same design as last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL, to the point where most people would struggle to tell the two apart side by side. The changes are minor: a longer camera bump on the back, and a relocated SIM card slot at the top, which makes room for an extra speaker grille at the bottom.
Like past Pixel models, newcomers will likely struggle with the placement of the volume rocker and lock button, which are reversed compared to most Android smartphones. Many a time do I find myself locking the phone when attempting to adjust the volume.
Since these are only my initial impressions, I’ll save my opinions on the various Gemini-powered features and the device’s performance for an in-depth review. For now, what I can say is that the phone feels smooth and optimised, at least when common tasks and applications are concerned.
Like its predecessors, it continues to offer a first-party Android experience, while the Material 3 Expressive makeover adds new graphic elements, punchy colours and pleasing animations. As always, the platform’s absence of third-party fluff and bloatware are always a positive in my books.
I’m also glad to report that snapping photos with the Pixel 10 Pro is still fun and satisfying, with features such as Add Me and Action Pan returning. Of course, there are the newer additions, which includes Camera Coach, Auto Best Take, Pro Res Zoom and others, but I’ll talk more about these in my upcoming review of the phone.

So far, so good. While Google’s top-end smartphone looks aesthetically undisturbed from its past iteration, what it offers in terms of hardware and features tells a different story.
In case you missed it, the Pixel 10 Pro is now available for pre-order in Malaysia, offered in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations. These are priced at RM5,999, RM6,599, and RM7,799 respectively. Colour options include Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade.
