It was previously reported that Samsung was dipping its toes in the mixed-reality market with its very own headset codenamed Project Moohan. For the longest time, it was rumoured that the upcoming mixed reality (MR) headset was slated for a 29 September release, but now an additional report claims that the head-mounted device will launch at the aforementioned date.
Newsworks claims that the XR headset will officially be at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 29 September and will be officially available in its native country first. If this report is true, this will be the third Galaxy Unpacked that Samsung will host this year—more on that later. According to reports, the device will go on sale in South Korea on October 13 and progressively spread to other markets thereafter.
Furthermore, Project Moonhan will allegedly retail from around KRW2,500,000 (~RM7,573) to KRW4,000,000 (~RM12,116) in South Korea. This is just a tad more affordable than the Apple Vision Pro’s US$3,499 (~RM14,800) launch price. Additionally, the South Korean-based source claims that Samsung is aiming to ship around 100,000 units of the device in 2025.
Circling back to the Galaxy Unpacked. For those who are unaware, Samsung customarily hosts two Galaxy Unpacked events, though this will not be the first time the company hosted more than the yearly average. It is worth mentioning that the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is confirmed to launch on 19 September, and it was rumoured that the Galaxy S25 FE would release on the same day, potentially eliminating them as talking points in the events.
If memory serves, Galaxy Unpacked events often see the release and announcements of several new products and services from Samsung. Outside of additional information about Project Moohan, we might see more about the tech giant’s other devices, like the tri-fold device. For now, all we can do is wait for more information that can further confirm or deny these claims.
