The release of the iPhone 17 is almost upon us, and heralding the device’s arrival is a relentless stream of leaks about the device. The most recent leak claims that the Pro variant of the Apple flagship is finally getting reverse wireless charging, a feature that Android has been enjoying for around seven years at this point.
The leak and resulting uproar originated from Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, which claims that the American tech giant will be applying this feature to the iPhone 17 Pro. In the post, the leakster claims that this addition would be a “major innovative design” for the company’s flagship product.

This isn’t the first time rumours of a reverse wireless charging iPhone has been mentioned. One of the earlier reports goes all the way back to February this year via another Weibo post. That post claims that Apple is testing 7.5W reverse wireless charging for the soon-to-be-released handset.
Though previous iPhone devices were always capable of reverse charging, Apple has been hard at work getting its wireless counterpart fully operational as far back as the iPhone 12. If reports are true, then this will be quite a nice addition to the device’s arsenal of (reported) tricks. However, it is worth pointing out that although leaks only mentioned the iPhone 17 Pro, the feature will most likely be available for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, unless stated otherwise.
We’ll just have to wait until the official announcement.
