In conjunction with the celebrations of the 68th National Day, all Rapid KL rail services will be operating around the clock from 6am on 30 August to 11.30pm on 31 August. This was announced by the President and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Amir Hamdan, during the launch of the “Denyut Nadi Merdeka” campaign.
The 24-hour services include Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Monorail, as well as the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on the Sunway route. “Several bus services and zones of the Rapid On-Demand (ROD) service will also run continuously from 6am on 30 August until 11.30pm the following day,” he added.
Furthermore, additional bus services will be introduced on these days. On the eve of National Day, a total of 86 routes involving 235 buses will be in operation, while on National Day itself, the number will increase to 100 routes and 308 buses to accommodate public demand. Additionally, Rapid KL will also provide 96 free intermediary buses along three routes: from Putrajaya Sentral Station to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak 2 in Presint 2; from PICC to Jalan Tun Hussein in Presint 3; and from Taman Botani to Putra Square.
In the meantime, a total of 20 vans will be provided by the ROD to cover five zones from Putrajaya Sentral Station and one zone in the Central Business District. Passengers can book the ROD vans through the MyRapid PULSE application with a fare of only RM1.00.

This is not the first time Prasarana has provided 24-hour public transport services. According to Amir, last year’s operation served as a valuable reference to further improve the initiative this year. “By deploying more than 5,000 frontline staff, we are confident that this year’s services will be smoother and safer,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the public would take full advantage of the facilities provided and come together to celebrate National Day. Customers are advised to use their Touch ‘n Go cards. The full list of bus routes and ROD zones is available on the official website and Rapid KL’s social media channels.
