It looks like Apple won’t be releasing the M5 MacBook Pro anytime soon. Supposedly, the fruit company is delaying its launch to sometime in 2026, and its chassis will be the same as its predecessor.
According to reliable Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, they predict that while the next generation M5 MacBook Pro will only launch next year, it will also retain the shape and design of the last two MacBook Pro laptops. They also say that the high-end M5 chipsets, presumably the M5 Pro, will use separate underfill and moulding processes, unlike the A20 SoC that is currently in development for the iPhone 18. That chip will reportedly use a Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging.
“Eternal will be the exclusive supplier of MUF and LMC for Apple’s 2026 iPhone and Mac processors, respectively, and is positioned to become TSMC’s exclusive or primary CoWoS LMC supplier as early as 2027–2028.” – Ming-Chi Kuo.
Additionally, AppleInsider says that the company from Cupertino plans to upgrade its Mac Mini lineup with the M5 chipset as well. It is reportedly developing more than a dozen new Mac models and configurations, which include two Mac Mini variants powered by a Pro and non-Pro variant.
At the time of writing, there has been no official word from Apple regarding this. Therefore, we recommend that you treat this news with that proverbial grain of salt.
