Apple is working on a major update to Siri that could make operating your iPhone, iPad, or Mac entirely hands-free. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the much anticipated upgrade will enable the voice assistant to carry out precise in-app actions across both the company’s own apps as well as third-party ones such as YouTube, WhatsApp, Threads, Facebook and even select games through voice commands.
This is made possible by an enhanced App Intents system, designed to give Siri deeper control inside apps. With this, you could simply ask the voice assistant to help you comment on an Instagram post or scroll a shopping app and add something to your cart, without touching the screen. Gurman adds that Siri would perform the actions as if you were tapping and swiping yourself, navigating each app’s interface with precision.

The system is currently being tested with Apple’s own apps too, such as pulling up flight details from Mail or lunch reservations from Messages. The report notes that certain privacy sensitive scenarios, such as handling sensitive data in banking or health apps, may see these abilities limited or disabled at launch to prevent critical errors observed during internal testing.
Last but not least, Gurman recapped his prior report, noting that Apple is expected to launch the new Siri in Spring 2026 as part of the iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS 26.4 and visionOS 26.4 updates. However, he added that its availability will be staggered internationally, mirroring the phased rollout of Apple Intelligence features.
