The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has released a media statement today stating that there will be no changes to the exemption for motorcyclists paying tolls. This statement was issued in response to a viral social media post published on an account known as ebidimotor.
LLM also stated that the viral post titled “Motorcyclists Can Experience Paying Tolls Starting October 2025” contains inaccurate and misleading information. It added that such claims can cause misunderstandings among highway users, especially motorcyclists, and tarnish the reputation of the Government, the Ministry of Works (KKR), LLM, and the highway concessionaire companies involved.
“LLM emphasises that there are no changes to the categories of vehicles currently subject to tolls, including motorcyclists,” it said in the statement. “Therefore, the postings uploaded by ebidmotor are untrue, misleading, and may cause unfounded concerns among motorcyclists.”
On the other hand, it also mentioned that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently conducting a trial with the open toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. Furthermore, if the trial proves successful, the open toll system will be implemented in stages on highways operated by PLUS.

The purpose of this system, according to LLM, is to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion. This new ANPR technology allows a barrier-free toll system. Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, while reviewing the system noted that this could be a step forward to the establishment of the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF).
