Many anticipated a surprise appearance of the Samsung tri-fold phone at last week’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which introduced the company’s new foldable lineup. Of course, that did not happen, but Samsung later confirmed that the device is already ready for production. While we still have no exact launch date, the company is reportedly aiming to unveil the tri-fold in October.
This information comes from a Weibo post by known leakster Ice Universe. The same post also claims that Huawei will be releasing its Mate XT successor in September. This means that the Samsung tri-fold will be facing competition immediately upon release.

Aside from that, it is unclear whether the company will be hosting an event to announce the device. Given that this will be the company’s first triple-screen foldable, it would be odd if it were to be released without much fanfare. Additionally, Samsung still has the Galaxy S25 FE to unveil this year, so a launch event seems pretty likely.
As for other details on the tri-fold, it seems that the company will be using its flagship Z branding for it. The phone was previously thought to be named the “Galaxy G Fold”, but apparently Samsung has registered a trademark for the “Galaxy Z Trifold” in South Korea.

The foldable will also reportedly be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, according to a separate report by Android Authority. The publication reported that a string of code in a new One UI 8 internal beta references the Galaxy Z Trifold alongside Qualcomm’s flagship chip.
Of course, one can only verify the accuracy of this information once the device launches, and it seems like it won’t be too long before that happens. That said, the tri-fold won’t be making a local appearance anytime soon as the phone has been said to be limited to Korea and China.
