Around this time last year, Samsung announced that features on its Galaxy AI will remain free until the end of 2025, after which users will need to pay for access to certain apps. The problem with this was that the Korean tech giant didn’t specify which app would remain free and which wouldn’t, until now.
Speaking to Android Police directly, Samsung supposedly stated that all Galaxy AI features that are “on your phone by default” will remain on your Galaxy device rent-free. The list of default features includes Live Translate, Note Assist in Samsung Notes, Zoom Nightography, Audio Eraser, Browsing Assist, Generative Assist, Now Brief, Photo Assist, Voice Recorder and Transcript Assist, to name a few.

The rest of the features are all powered by Google’s Gemini and will remain free until such a time the search engine chooses to start charging users for it. That said, it should be noted that a subscription-based Gemini Advanced already exists, offering more powerful AI features.
Galaxy AI has been a core part of Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem. Since the launch of the Galaxy S24 Series back in 2024, the brand has invested heavily in it, integrating it into virtually every aspect of the phone and its apps. It’s also been rumoured that Samsung could expand Galaxy AI functionalities with other AI companies, such as OpenAI’s Perplexity, but that would ultimately mean replacing Gemini AI and quite probably, ending its partnership with Google in the future.
