PRO-NET, the energy subsidiary of Proton, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AMTEL Cellular Sdn Bhd (“AMTEL”), a subsidiary of AMTEL Holdings Berhad. The purpose of this partnership is the proper transportation, disassembly, and disposal of electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
This collaboration will leverage AMTEL’s expertise to help PRO-NET extend the lifespan of EV batteries, supporting a more sustainable, circular economy. The key focus is to recover materials from the battery and repurpose them for secondary uses such as manufacturing new batteries or powering energy storage systems.

The disposal will be conducted in accordance with government-mandated regulations under the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Electronic Scheduled Waste Information System (eSWIS). “PRO-NET is fully committed to sustainability and as we help the nation transition to green mobility, we want to also ensure that in doing so, the process remains green as well,” said the CEO of PRO-NET, Zhang Qiang.
On another note, the national automaker announced a RM5,000 cash rebate for Malaysians who trade in their current vehicle — regardless of brand and age — for an eMAS 7. Just to recap, the Proton eMAS comes in two variants: Prime and Premium, with a price tag of RM105,800 and RM119,800 respectively.
Moreover, the EV now comes with Apple CarPlay and has a new colour choice – Obsidian Black. Additionally, there is also a limited-edition Alabaster White interior option. This option is only limited to 250 units for the moment.
Furthermore, the eMAS 7 features Cell-to-Body (CTB) integration with the Aegis Short Blade Battery, meaning the battery pack is built directly into the vehicle’s structure. Each blade battery is sealed and forms part of the body, enhancing the car’s overall rigidity and strength. According to the automaker, this design has passed rigorous testing to validate its performance and durability.
