GoPro has unveiled the successor to its 360-degree action camera by announcing the all-new GoPro Max 2. Likely featuring upgraded hardware, this model is not to be confused with the refreshed model of the original that was launched earlier this year.
Two images of the GoPro Max 2 were released by the company via its official X page, revealing its design. Based on what’s shown, the new 360-degree camera retains the square form factor, but now with a centralised camera placement (likely on both sides), a grille-like surface on its front, what appears to be a power button on the side, as well as the “Max 2” branding.
Unfortunately, that’s all that we know about the new device, as GoPro is likely saving further details for the actual launch. That said, apart from a caption that simply says “Dropping…”, it did not say when exactly the Max 2 will be making its debut. With marketing now gearing up, it’s likely we’ll see it officially announced soon.
Prior to the refreshed version, the original GoPro Max 360 launched all the way back in 2019, and is currently the brand’s first and only 360-degree action camera. It offers 5.6K video recording capability via two 180-degree lenses on the front and rear, while an LCD display is available on the back of the device.

The upgraded model that launched in February 2025 updates its software and tripod mount compatibility, as well as includes GoPro’s MAX Enduro Battery which boasts a larger capacity and better environmental resistance. This version is currently going for RM1,799 in Malaysia.
