Mitsubishi Motors brings back the Grandis after 13 years. Interestingly, the car has gone through a major transformation from an MPV to a compact SUV, as it is built based on the CMF-B platform as offered in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. Therefore, let us see, what the transformation of the Grandis has to offer.
Staring with the exterior, the front fascia comes with Mitsubishi Motors’ signature Dynamic Shield design flanked by sharp, angular LED headlights. Vertical LED daytime running lights and a wide lower intake add a futuristic, aggressive touch to its compact SUV stance.
At the rear, the automaker adopts the Sculptural Hexagon design identity, which is highlighted by sharp, high-mounted LED tail lights that stretch horizontally into the tailgate. Subtle badging, a blacked-out lower bumper, and angular creases lend it a modern, tech-forward appearance.
Inside, the Grandis comes with a two-row, five seat layout and a panoramic glass roof with electrochromic function. As for connectivity, the SUV features a vertical 10.4-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system with built in Google applications. It also supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other than that, it comes with a boot space of 434 litres to 566 litres.

The Mitsubishi Grandis comes with two powertrains – a mild hybrid (MHEV) and a full hybrid (HEV). The MHEV is powered by a 1.3-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine, available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (7DCT). Both options produce 103 kW of power.
The HEV model offers a combined output of 115 kW by integrating a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine (producing 80 kW) with a 36kW drive motor and a 15 kW generator. These work together with a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery and smart multi-mode gearbox.

Additionally, there are three running modes for the HEV model; EV, Hybrid and Regenerative. According to the automaker, the car automatically selects the most suitable mode based on driving conditions. Additionally, an E-Save mode allows the driver to preserve battery charge at 40% or more. Meanwhile, the SUV also has four drive modes; Perso, Eco, Comfort, and Sport.
On the safety front, the Grandis comes with advanced active safety systems, including ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and forward radar. In addition to that, it also has full ADAS features.

As of now, the Mitsubishi Grandis will make its debut in the European market, however, the price has yet to be revealed by the company. Also, there are no information yet on global launch.
