HONOR has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Magic V5, in China. The book-style foldable is advertised as the world’s thinnest, measuring 8.8mm in its folded state and weighing 217g. This narrowly beats out the OPPO Find N5, which measures 8.9mm when folded. That said, the figures provided by HONOR only apply to the Ivory White variant of the Magic V5, and the thickness measurement obviously excludes the camera bump.
Aside from that, the Magic V5 sports a 6.43-inch external OLED display, and a 7.95-inch internal OLED display. The cover screen is reinforced with the brand’s Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for protection. The device also boasts an IP59 rating for dust and water resistance, which is a notable upgrade from its predecessor’s IPX8 rating.

Under the hood, the phone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, depending on the chosen memory configuration. Powering the device is a 6,100mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The foldable runs on MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15, and features the company’s YOYO AI assistant.
As for cameras, the Magic V5 gets a triple setup housed in a massive camera bump on the rear. This includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, as well as a 64MP telephoto periscope telephoto unit. Both inner and outer screens feature a 20MP selfie shooter.

Other than Ivory White, the HONOR Magic V5 comes in Black, Dawn Gold and Reddish Brown, with a starting price of CNY8,999 (~RM5,304) for the base 12GB+256GB configuration. Other storage options include 16GB+512GB for CNY9,999 (~RM5,893) and 16GB+1TB for CNY10,999 (~RM6483).
Of course, we know that the foldable is making its way to our shores soon, likely later this month. Ahead of its launch in Malaysia, we’ve been given a chance to get a look at the device.
