Roslan Abdullah has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia today. Earlier this month, he stepped down from his role as the Deputy CEO of Proton, which was taken over by Ainol Azmil.
According to GWM, the purpose of this appointment is to support the company’s initiatives in building a future-ready mobility ecosystem, aligned with the nation’s push towards smarter, greener, and more inclusive transportation. Additionally, with Roslan having 30 years of experience in the automotive industry under his belt, this may help the company in achieving these initiatives.

Roslan’s experience was also highlighted by GWM Managing Director Cui Anqi, who stated that his leadership qualities will play a crucial role in strengthening the company’s operations. On the other hand, Roslan stated that his goal is to make GWM Malaysia a trusted long-term mobility company.
He added that this will be done through a strong and reliable dealer and service network. He is also intent on creating a company portfolio that meets the demands of all Malaysians.

As mentioned above, Roslan was the former Deputy CEO of Proton. During his time there, he played a pivotal role in assisting Proton during the Covid-19 pandemic, introducing Geely-based models like the X50, X90, S70, and facelifted X70, and leading the creation of Proton New Energy Technology (PRO-NET), selling Proton’s first electric vehicle.
