Mercedes-Benz is preparing to unveil its next electric model, but this time it will not carry the ‘EQ’ badge. Mercedes decided to go with a familiar face; hence the all-electric GLC, which is reported to hit the roads in the spring of 2026 with the first model named 400e.
A sneak peek of the prototype was offered by the automaker, revealing a sleek and sporty look. Further, the roofline has been lowered and the wheelbase has been increased to 84mm. According to Mercedes, the GLC EV will also have a spacious interior with more headroom.

The cargo space has been reduced to 560 litres, from 620 litres with the gas models. However, Mercedes is making up for that with a brand-new 99 litre front trunk.
The Mercedes GLC EV will be first model to be built on the new 800V platform and comes with a dual motor placed at both the front and rear of the car respectively, and is powered by a 94.5 kWh NMC battery pack. Altogether, the system produces 483HP (360kW) and 268HP (200kW) and comes in an all wheel drive configuration.

Additionally, the powertrain is supported by a two-speed transmission similar to the upcoming electric CLA. Mercedes says that this transmission helps improve efficiency at high speeds and adds flexibility for both performance and cruising.
Regarding range, Mercedes says that the GLC is expected to deliver a WLTP driving range of 650km. Thanks to its 800V architecture, the GLC EV supports ultra-rapid charging at up to 320kW, meaning you can recover about 260km of range with just 10 minutes at a capable DC fast charger.

That’s all Mercedes has revealed so far. Beyond the following details, the automaker is staying tight-lipped about the interior features and the price of the car. However, this information can be expected to be revealed closer to the launch of the car.
