U Mobile has started offering new “game-grade” routers with its U Home 5G broadband plan. While the plan previously already included Wi-Fi 6 routers, the telco is now offering newer models optimised for gaming with faster speeds, lower latency, and wider coverage.
According to the carrier, the routers feature 4×4 MIMO technology with support for Wi-Fi 6 using 5G and 4G LTE connections through a SIM card. It is equipped with speeds up to 3.6Gbps for low-latency gaming and seamless 4K streaming. For smart home ecosystems, the router can support up to 128 connected devices simultaneously, along with compatibility with any EasyMesh-certified device to eliminate dead zones.
The new routers, worth RM799, come free with the U Home 5G plan, but you will have to sign a two-year contract with U Mobile. There are two router models available for this plan, namely the ZTE G5B and the Huawei H153.
Pricing-wise, the U Home 5G package still costs RM78/month with a RM10/month rebate promo until further notice. You can also bundle the plan with a sooka Premium subscription at RM158.10, which is currently being offered at a promotional price of RM98/month.
