Last July, U Mobile doubled the data speeds of its so-called unlimited prepaid plans. Less than a year later, the orange telco has quietly increased the speeds once again, with one plan now being over 40x faster.
The most affordable prepaid plans, U Prepaid 25 and 35, get double the speed limit at 12Mbps and 24Mbps respectively. Meanwhile, the U Prepaid 40 package now offers data at 48Mbps, quadruple its previous cap of 12Mbps. Last but not least, the U Prepaid 50 plan is now packed with a whopping speed limit of 1,000Mbps.
Aside from the speed increase, however, U Mobile has not changed the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limits of its “unlimited” prepaid plans. The U Prepaid 25 plan is still limited to 40GB of fast data while the rest are capped at 200GB.
Aside from the U Prepaid 50 plan, the three other prepaid plans come with uncapped speeds during weekends. As for hotspot availability, U Prepaid 25 gets no hotspot privileges while U Prepaid 35 offers 10GB. Only the U Prepaid 40 and 50 plans include 200GB of hotspot usage. Additionally, all four packages have unlimited calls.
