Nissan has officially unveiled the sixth-generation Micra, now reimagined as a fully electric vehicle (EV). Set to make its full debut in the European market later this year, the shift to EV marks a significant shift for the long-standing B-segment staple. Built on the AmpR Small platform — formerly known as the CMF-B EV — it shares its underpinnings with the Renault 5 E-Tech.

In terms of design, the new Micra features distinctive circular LED daytime running lights that encircle the rectangular headlights, creating an eye-like appearance that appears to “wink” when the car is locked or unlocked. A similar circular motif is echoed in the rear lighting design, ensuring visual cohesion. At the front, a bold H-shaped silver trim sits above a large black section housing central air inlet, giving the car a modern and expressive face.

Furthermore, Nissan has confirmed that the new EV will come with 18-inch wheels, offering three design options: “Active” wheel covers, as well as “Iconic” and “Sport” alloy wheels. To complete the exterior styling, the car features a sleek roofline, aerodynamic door mirrors, thick C-pillars with hidden rear door handles, and a two-tone colour scheme with 14 available combinations.

Inside, the car is designed with a driver-centric cabin, with both the centre stack and the 10.1-inch touchscreen angled towards the seat behind the wheel. A matching 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster provides key driving information directly in the driver’s line of sight.

Adding a touch of personality, Nissan has included a moulded outline of Mount Fuji — Japan’s most iconic landmark — hidden within the storage space between the front seats. Functional highlights include a gear selector stalk, an electronic parking brake switch with auto hold, USB-C ports, and a wireless charging pad.

Customisation continues with seat upholstery, which varies depending on the selected trim — Modern, Audacious, and Chill. Enhancing the cabin ambiance is a 48-colour ambient lighting system. Tech-wise, the Micra features the NissanConnect infotainment system with Google built-in, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It also comes with the Nissan ProPILOT advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

As for the powertrain, the Nissan Micra comes with two options. The base option has a 40kWh battery with 122PS and 225Nm of torque; meanwhile, the higher variant has a 52kWh battery with an output of 150PS and 245Nm. Both power a front-mounted electric motor and are expected to deliver 310km and 408km of range respectively (subject to WLTP homologation).

The new Micra supports DC fast charging, delivering up to 100 kW with the 52kWh battery or 80 kW with the 40kWh version—allowing a 15–80% charge in just 30 minutes. It also features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system, enabling power supply to external devices.

For driving ease and efficiency, Nissan’s e-Pedal system is included, allowing one-pedal driving in most conditions by combining acceleration and braking. Regenerative braking levels can be adjusted using paddle controls behind the steering wheel, while selectable drive modes let drivers tailor power delivery and throttle response to their preference.

Nissan has yet to reveal the price. Nonetheless, it can be expected to be priced higher than its Renault 5 twin, which starts from GBP24,000 (~RM137,244).
