When it comes to autonomous driving, there is one automaker that comes to the mind of many; Tesla. Recently, the company demonstrated its Full Self-Driving (FSD) driving assistance on its Twitter page. Moreover, the driving assistance that was shown was suited for right-hand drive vehicles.
In the video, a person is seen in the driver’s seat supervising the FSD system. The procedure begins with the driver entering a destination into the infotainment system. Once the destination is set, the Tesla initiates the journey by steering itself out of the parking spot.

Throughout the video, the Tesla can be seen navigating through traffic in Melbourne. During the journey, the vehicle successfully changed lanes, crossed intersections, and yielded to pedestrians crossing the road.
Additionally, the car maintained a safe distance from the vehicle in front and applied the brakes appropriately when needed. Notably, with the help of Full Self-Driving (FSD) assistance, the Tesla was also able to perform a hook turn — a maneuver unique to Melbourne, where a right turn is made from the far left lane to allow trams to pass through the intersection.
As mentioned, the testing was done on the streets of Melbourne. However, the American EV maker did not specify when the FSD driving assistance will be available for the Australian market.
In Malaysia, Tesla models come equipped with the basic Autopilot system as standard. However, customers have the option to upgrade to Enhanced Autopilot for RM16,000 or Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability for RM32,000. Despite being available for purchase, the use of FSD capability is currently not permitted on Malaysian roads.
