The current batch of flagship MediaTek mobile chipsets include the base Dimensity 9400 as well as a Plus variant. But it looks like the company is adding one more variant that sits below the existing two in terms of raw number-crunching performance, called the Dimensity 9400e.
As with the other variants, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e continues with the the All Big Core design, with the CPU side consisting of a 3.4GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 2.85GHz Cortex-X4 cores and four 2.0GHz Cortex-A720 cores. This is paired with a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU, as well as the NPU 790 for on-board AI processes. Unlike the Plus version that was announced before it, the “e” model only supports up to 8,533MHz LPDDR5X memory. Then there’s UFS 4 + MCQ storage support.

Display support for the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e goes up to 4K with 120Hz refresh rate, or WQHD with a higher 180Hz refresh rate. Similarly, video recording support goes up to 8K 30fps or 4K 60fps, with support for sensors going up to 320MP. There’s also WiFi 7 support for speeds going up to 7.3Gbps, and Bluetooth 6 with dual Bluetooth engine, with connection ranges going up to 5km.
As for when we’ll be seeing the chip out in the wild, there have been a handful of phones rumoured to be making use of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e. One of them is the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition, and the other is vivo X200 FE. The former is rumoured to be launching as soon as next week, while the latter is currently slated for a July launch.
