Apple is apparently planning to implement an eye-tracking ability for navigating its Vision Pro headset. Via a report on Bloomberg, Mark Gurman states that the upcoming technology will enable users to scroll through their apps and software using their eyes alone.
Citing “people with knowledge of the matter”, Gurman states that Apple is currently testing this feature as part of visionOS 3, the upcoming version of the Vision Pro operating system. If this does pass the testing phase, the feature will allegedly work on all of Apple’s built in apps found on the headset. Additionally, the company is also said to be planning a way to allow developers to integrate the eye-tracking technology in their own software.

In the event the feature does get released, it would be convenient for users with disabilities and weakened motor skills. However, as noted by 9to5Mac, Gurman himself implies that the experience might be inconsistent across apps. This could mean that it may be a while before the general public gains access to this feature, if ever.
The Apple Vision Pro 2 has been recently reported to be launching later this year, with mass production of components currently underway. It will apparently feature an M5 chip, with an integration of Apple Intelligence, eye tracking, and gesture control.
