Chinese automaker Omoda | Jaecoo has unveiled its upcoming crossover SUV, the C7, at MAS 2025 yesterday. It will also be one of the first vehicles to be marketed under a major rebrand, Omoda | Jaecoo, which merges two the two brands together.

However, there was not much information that was given about the C7 during the event. Based on the model shown, it is revealed that the SUV features shard LED headlights and a front grille with a honeycomb pattern. Other design elements include the through-type LED tail lights that come with a zig-zag design.

As for the dimensions, the Omoda C7 has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and measures at 4,621 mm long, 1,827 mm wide and 1,673 mm tall. However, since the interior of the car was inaccessible, we have no information on how the cockpit of the car looks and what it comes with.

It should be noted that the model that is on display is the petrol variant, though Chery says a hybrid option will be available once the C7 eventually launches in Malaysia. Specifications-wise, the SUV shares its specifications with the Jaecoo J7, so it is expected that the hybrid variant will likely feature the automaker’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) as well as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) capability. In other words, underneath the hood will be 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder dedicated hybrid engine with a single electric motor producing 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque.

This setup enables the C7 Hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a respectable 8.5 seconds. Again, based on the Jaecoo J7, it is expected that powering the C7’s electric drive is a BYD-sourced 18.3-kWh battery, which delivers up to 95 km of pure electric range and over 1,250 km of total range – both measured according to WLTP standards.

Chery has yet to confirm the Omoda C7’s local availability and pricing. Hopefully, more information surrounding the upcoming crossover SUV will be revealed in the coming weeks or even months.
