Bolt has officially announced that its ride-hailing service now includes toll fares into every ride, ensuring no surprise fees. It is the first e-hailing platform to do so, at least in Malaysia, where the norm is for drivers to manually input the toll fares after the ride is completed.
With this new policy, what you see is what you get as the ride fares shown on the app include any applicable toll fares based on the route so that you know the full cost upfront. This feature was actually spotted on the app last month, but the company has only publicised it now.

Bolt says that with 200 tolls operating nationwide and three different toll systems, around 30% of rides on its app currently pass through at least one toll. The company adds that this move eliminates manual tracking for drivers and streamlines the overall journey.
Grab, currently the biggest ride-hailing platform in the country, had previously teased the integration of toll charges in Singapore, but it has yet to implement it here. On the one hand, it provides more transparency for passengers, but on the other, it takes away the option for passengers to request for alternative toll-free routes.
