In the past few days, you may have gotten strange scam calls noting that “your resume has been approved” on Jobstreet, telling you to contact the caller via WhatsApp. These calls come from various numbers, including apparent landline numbers as well, and these calls would be extra weird if you don’t have an account on the platform. Jobstreet Malaysia has since acknowledged that it is an ongoing scam, with details on the way it works in its Security & Privacy Hub.

According to said page, the scam, should you engage with it, will start with the scammers claiming to be recruiters from TikTok. They will then get potential victims to carry out simple tasks such as liking certain videos on the aforementioned video hosting platform “in exchange for daily earnings”, ranging from RM300 to RM1,000.

Upon completing the tasks and submitting screenshots as proof, the scammers will then redirect victims to Telegram, telling them that they’ll have to then pay to release the aforementioned daily earnings. Though as Jobstreet points out, because this is a financial scam, the funds will not be paid out.

As usual, when getting such unusual calls, you should verify it before taking any other action. The company suggests logging into your own Jobstreet account to check the validity of such messages, noting also that you would be notified by an email coming from the official @email.jobstreet.com address.

Beyond the usual not clicking on suspicious links as well as not sharing personal and financial details, these scam calls should be reported and blocked. You can hit on the aforementioned link to find out more on not only what are the current scams like, but also what you can do to avoid being a victim.
