OnePlus launched its Ace 5 series late last year, and is now apparently gearing up to release a new variant within the series. Through a post on Weibo, known leakster Digital Chat Station is claiming that the phone may be called the Racing Edition, while also sharing details surrounding its specifications – including its chipset and camera system.
It is alleged that the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition may come equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e chipset, which is supposedly an upgrade to the brand’s existing 9300 Plus. Interestingly, Digital Chat Station also claims that the chip is also capable of outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Design-wise, the purportedly upcoming OnePlus Ace 5 variant may have a flat 6.77-inch LTPS screen, with a “short-focus” optical fingerprint sensor, and a plastic middle frame. It is also said to come with a 7,000mAh battery with an 80W fast charging support. In terms of imaging, the Racing Edition may sport a 50MP + 2MP camera system on its back, with a 16MP selfie shooter on its display.
The pricing of the device was not specified, though Digital Chat Station suggests that it will be competitive. OnePlus itself has not confirmed any of the specs of its phone, and as such, these purported leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.
It should also be noted that the company often rebrands its phones for their launches outside China. That being said, if the Ace 5 Racing Edition does see a global release, it may be under a different name.
