Xiaomi has officially launched its latest budget smartphone, the Redmi A5, in Malaysia. Compared to its predecessor, the Redmi A5 features some improvements in terms of camera, and comes at a lower price.
The budget smartphone features a 6.88-inch 720 x 1640 LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 450 nits. It also sports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as a headphone jack. For connectivity, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2.

Under the hood, it runs on a Unisoc T7250 chipset. The entry-level smartphone comes in two memory configurations: 3GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Powering the device is a 5,200mAh battery with support for 15W charging. As for software, the phone runs on Android 15 (Go edition).
On the imaging side, the Redmi A5 has a basic setup of a 32MP AI dual camera on the rear. In front, it has a 8MP selfie snapper.
The Redmi A5 comes in Midnight Black, Sandy Gold, and Ocean Blue colourways and is available starting today. The 3GB + 64GB variant is priced at RM299, while the 4GB + 128GB version is available for RM349.
