For those looking to level up their PC aesthetics, Coolify’s holographic fans could be upgraded from the usual RGB lights. Initially announced last year, the Holo Fans promise a highly customizable experience without compromising functionality.

The fans use an array of 96 LED lights to project floating holograms. The holograms themselves are not limited to static images as animations, videos, and other dynamic visuals can be displayed using the Holo Fans. The Coolify website lists custom slideshows, logos, as well as GIFs as potential applications of the holograms.

The fans are available in 120mm and 140mm sizes and have a dedicated controller to manage the visuals. Another perk of the Holo Fans is the software integration support, which allows users to synchronize visuals with system metrics, or display alerts and real-time notifications.

As the movement of the fans creates the holograms, the fans can only operate at a fixed speed of either 1,500 or 2,600 RPM to preserve the integrity of the projected visuals. At 2,600 RPM, the fans have an airflow rate of 52 CFM and air pressure of 2.75 mmH2O. The noise levels are reportedly kept at a maximum of 33 dB(A) to ensure the fans are suitable for both gaming and professional purposes.

One downside of the fans is the power consumption, which ranges from 2W to 6W and can go up to 10W. Coolify warns users that connecting multiple fans at the same time may lead to insufficient power supply. Additionally, the need for a companion app to upload the visuals may be a turn-off for those who don’t want the added hassle during installation.

The fans are priced at US$45.99 (~RM204) each, but they may not be readily available due to high demand. It is also uncertain whether these holographic displays will overtake RGB lights as a customization staple once the novelty wears off.
