Apple CEO Tim Cook has teased an upcoming product announcement, strongly hinting at the launch of a new MacBook Air. Cook shared a short video on social media with the caption, “There’s something in the air,” and mentions that the reveal will happen “this week.”
The teaser features a cryptic animation with text slowly moving across the screen before being interrupted by an ultra-thin swoosh – an apparent reference to the MacBook Air’s signature slim design. This aligns with prior reports suggesting Apple is set to introduce a new model powered by its M4 chip.

Speaking of which, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that the MacBook Air refresh will come in both 13-inch and 15-inch variants, continuing Apple’s yearly update cycle. The previous M3 MacBook Air debuted in March 2024, making this expected release consistent with Apple’s recent launch patterns. The M4 chip first appeared in the iPad Pro before being integrated into the iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro late last year.
While the teaser primarily hints at the MacBook Air, some speculation remains regarding the potential launch of a new iPad Air. However, given that the last major iPad Air redesign was released in May 2024, an immediate refresh is less likely.
